BANGOR (NEWS CENTER) -- City officials joined hotel management for the official ribbon cutting ceremony of the Hollywood Slots Hotel.

Guests can check into the 152 room hotel tonight. Rooms range from $149 to the upper 300 dollar range. The bottom three floors of the hotel are open to guests now, while the top three floors will open on September 8.

Hollywood Slots is owned by Penn National Gaming Inc. President Tim Wilmott participated in the ceremony.

"It's going to be a winner for us, a winner for the community and allows us to increase tourism here in the city of Bangor for places more than 90 miles which is a big focus for us," he said.

The $132 million facility was built in a little over a year and features conference space, a business center, fitness area, and laundry room. The hotel and gaming facility employs over 500 people.

Cindy Cowling was born and raised in Bangor and works as the front desk supervisor for the Hollywood Slots Hotel.

"It's beautiful I think the rooms are so ritzy looking, very professional and it's been an honor to be working with the opening of a new hotel," she said.

The gaming facility opened on July 1 and grossed over $75 million in its first month.
