BOOTHBAY HARBOR (NEWS CENTER) -- Lobstermen in Boothbay Harbor held a special promotion Saturday to let people know just how bad business is right now.

The sudden drop in prices last month has cost fishermen and the Maine economy about $20-million.

Saturday, lobstermen and their families sold live or cooked lobsters for $5 apiece in the Boothbay Harbor High School parking lot.

By 2 p.m., the lobstermen had run out of lobsters. They said they sold about $7,000 of them.

Profits from the sale will be used to buy advertising to encourage more people to eat lobster.

Lobstermen hope they can drive up the price by increasing demand and reducing supply.
