Fire crews working residence fire in Mount Vernon: Winthrop police

WINTHROP, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - - Police in Winthrop said they are working a residence fire in Mount Vernon Wednesday morning.

Assistant Fire Chief of Mt. Vernon said he received the call a little before 5 a.m Winthrop police said there are seven fire crews working a residence fire on 402 Belgrade Road in Mount Vernon.

Belgrade Road is closed to traffic. and there is heavy fire damage to the wood story single family structure, according to Mt. Vernon Assistant Fire Chief.

The fire is almost under control and no injuries are reported, according to Mount Vernon Assistant Fire Chief Jason Beckler.

"It's a single family single story structure, had heavy fire damage and at this time there is no point of origin or known cause" said Mount Vernon Assistant Fire Chief Jason Beckler.

Seven Fire Departments responded to the fire. Fire crews are now in overhaul mode.
