When late summer comes around, the Owls Head Transportation Museum holds its biggest fundraising event of the year.
The hope is that people who attend will write some big checks. And the reality is that the people who do pull out their checkbooks will come away with something you can't quite put a price on.
Their annual auction is their big fundraiser for the museum. This year the highest selling vehicle wasn't even motorized - an historic stagecoach fetched $203,000. The who auction brought in $3.1 million, a record for the New England Auto Auction.
A portion of that goes to help the museum.
