AUBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A new hockey arena in Auburn will relieve the crunch for ice time.
The Norway Savings Bank Arena opens Friday night, just two days before the closure of the old Ingersol Arena.
The Auburn City Council approved construction last October. It took 13 months and $8.5 million to build it.
The arena has two rinks. Each one can seat 800 people with standing room for 300 more.
The honor of being the first skater will go to the winner of a raffle. That person will take the ice at 5 p.m., followed immediately by the general public.
