(NBC) -- It was a day of triple digit highs for most everywhere east of the Rockies, and it's getting dangerous.
A heat advisory was upgraded to an excessive heat warning in Washington, DC as a 138 year-old high, was surpassed.
Air quality is falling and also the hot weather records, especially in the south.
Cooling off will be hard for fans watching the Braves play the nationals game this weekend, although the team is making provisions.
"Getting too hot...jump into the concourses, grab some water..complimentary..take it easy then go back into the ballpark," said Matt Lynch of the Atlanta Braves.
Cattle farmers in Arkansas have run out of hay because it's too dry, forcing many to sell early at the Little Rock auction.
Ken Culp's corn crop in Rensselear Indiana is also in jeopardy from the heat right now when it is time to pollinate.
"You need some cool weather and plenty of moisture during pollination time and we've got just the opposite right now," said Culp.
There is no doubt that summer has arrived and is here very early.
