NEW DELHI, India (NBC) - For a second day in a row India's power grid has suffered a massive failure.

More than 620 million people are without power across the country, one of the largest power outages ever in history.

The massive failure comes a day after a smaller outage left hundreds of millions in the dark.

India's power minister is blaming the blackout on local governments taking more than their daily allotment of electricity.

Today's outage brought the capital New Delhi to a standstill, trapped miners under ground and brought trains to a stop.

There's no word yet on when the lights will be back on.
