LAS VEGAS, Nevada (NBC NEWS) -- Three people are dead after early morning gun battle between people in two luxury vehicles speeding down the Las Vegas Strip.
Police say an altercation at a hotel spilled out onto the Strip and an exchange of gunfire between those in a black Range Rover and the occupants of a Maserati triggered a fiery crash.
"The Mazarati traveled through what we believe was a red light at a high rate of speed, striking several vehicles. One of those vehicles was a local cab that also caught on fire as a result of the impact," said Las Vegas Metro Police Captain Chris Jones.
The driver of that cab and a passenger were killed, as was the driver of the Maserati.
Three others were injured; the Range Rover sped away and is still being sought by police.
Investigators say a lot of what they'll be learn about the shootout will come from video cameras that are as common as casinos on the Vegas Strip.
