FAIRMONT, North Carolina (WMBF) -- A 10-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the head and killed Sunday by his father at a home in Fairmont, North Carolina according to officials with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.
Christopher Stanlane, 34, was wiping a shotgun down at his home on Gaddy Road Sunday afternoon when it went off, striking Christopher Stanlane, Jr. in the head, according to Capt. Anthony Thompson with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office. Stanlane's son was watching television in front of him.
Stanlane dropped his gun and rushed his eight-year-old daughter to another room, Thompson said, and his wife called 911. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the son dead at the scene.
The Robeson County District Attorney will determine what, charges will be filed against Stanlane, if any, Thompson added.
