Old Town PD not charging stepfather, NH police continue to

Old Town PD decides against charging stepfather.

OLD TOWN, Maine (NEWS CENTER)  -- Police arrested Christopher Julian last week in Hampton, New Hampshire after 15-year-old Natalee Cote's mom reported her missing.

Investigators say Julian picked Cote up from school on September 12th.

Cote's mother also noticed several items missing from her home, including a debit card.

Julian was taken into custody the next day after a Hampton hotel clerk recognized him with Cote.

Although Old Town Police issued an arrest warrant for Julian, they will not be pursuing charges.

A lieutenant with the Hampton Police Department says Julian is still charged with interference with custody of a child. Julian is scheduled to be arraigned on that charge next month.

"We spoke to the victim and the victim didn't want to pursue criminal charges against Mr. Julian, so at this time, basically, we have ceased the investigation and closed out the case. she just wanted to pursue it a different way, other than through criminal proceedings," said Old Town Police Department Captain Lee Miller.
