John Rohman-- 2013 2 Those Who Care winner

It is impossible to measure how many thousands of artists and art lovers have had their lives made better by the dedicated volunteer leadership of John Rohman.

He is also on the Boards of the former Maine Crafts Association, the American Folk Festival, the Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium, the University of Maine Museum of Art Advisory Committee, and the National Council for Traditional Arts. He is a Trustee of Husson University, on the UMA Board of Visitors and a Director of the Bangor Public Library. John is former chair of the University of Maine Alumni Association Board of Directors, the Maine Arts Commission, the Maine Creative Economy Council, the 2007 United Way Campaign, and former president of both the Bangor Chamber of Commerce and the National Assembly of State Art Agencies.

He has served as a Bangor City Councilor and as Mayor. During his political tenure, he focused strongly on the "art scene" of Bangor's downtown and waterfront, leading to the three-year National Folk Festival and continuing with the American Folk Festival. Professionally, John is the former President and CEO of Bangor-based WBRC Architects-Engineers.

According to Norman Minsky, 2012 2 Those Who Care recipient and outstanding volunteer in his own right, "I am unaware of any individual who has had a greater impact on the cultural and artistic well-being of Bangor."
