UPDATE: Brewer Police identify John Doe subject who refused to give his name

UPDATE:  Brewer Public Safety Director Jason Moffitt says the burglary suspect known as John Doe earlier this week has been identified as William C. Shea, age 33 of Nebraska.  Investigators have determined that Shea currently has an extraditable warrant for felony burglary charges from Lancaster County in Nebraska. 

Moffitt says during the course of the investigation Brewer Officers recovered a pickup that had been stolen in Nebraska.  He says they have also recovered property and evidence linking Shea to property crimes in other states.  Currently, Brewer detectives are coordinating with investigators from multiple agencies. He says more information will be released when appropriate. 

 

BREWER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — The Brewer Police Department arrested a man on Tuesday and are asking for the public's help in identifying the man.

The Brewer Police have the man they are calling 'John Doe' in custody and he is being charged with burglary and failure to give correct name as a result of an incident on Wilson Street earlier Tuesday.

By Wednesday the police still were unable to identify the man. They say he not only refused to tell police his name but would not cooperate to be fingerprinted. 

Brewer Public Safety Director Jason Moffitt says if anyone knows who 'John Doe' is, please call the Brewer Police Department at 989-7000.
