OSSIPEE, N.H. (AP) -- Thousands of acres of land in the Ossipee Mountains is once again open to the public.

The reopening of the land comes after a company that owns 12,000 acres of the land reached an agreement with a man who calls himself the "Trail Bandit" acknowledged cutting trails on the property and selling maps of those trails to the public.

The Concord Monitor said that part of the agreement prohibits Henniker resident Bob Garrison from using the land.

The property includes the Mount Shaw and Bayle Mountain hiking trails and other recreational sites. It's maintained by the state of New Hampshire.

Landowner Chocurua Forestlands agreed to lift restriction on public use after Garrison acknowledged his activities on the property.
