Tim Goff

Tim Goff was born in San Antonio, Texas, but has lived in Maine since he was three. He grew up in the central Aroostook County town of Fort Fairfield, graduated from high school in 1994 and attended a few different colleges and universities before becoming a multimedia journalist.

Tim joined the NEWS CENTER team while going to college in Bangor in 1996. He started as an intern working in the production department at WLBZ, eventually landing a paid gig as an 11 o'clock news studio camera operator.

"I was working as a radio reporter for KISS 94.5, so I decided I should learn about TV through an internship at school," recalled Goff. "After a few months bothering all the production staff to learn what their jobs were, I was able to edit shows, run the audio boards and other production equipment."

When a job as a photographer opened up, he was offered the opportunity to use his knowledge gained from reporting and couple it with taking pictures. "It was a perfect match for me. I love photography and meeting people and traveling to new places," he said. "My grandfather could definitely tell a story, and I always enjoyed listening to his tall-tales of working in the Northern Maine Woods. I like to think I inherited his gift for gab, but I strive for a different level of truthfulness in reporting than he did in telling his wonderful stories."

Tim moved to Portland in 1998 and has been at WCSH ever since. "It has been a great chance for a kid from the County to work with some of the most talented and dedicated people in the newsbusiness in Maine," he said. "I love this state. I love the people, and I have one of the best jobs imaginable, telling the stories of the people of Maine."

Tim added to his responsibilities by becoming a multimedia journalist in 2008 - meaning he shoots, writes and edits all of his stories.

He lives in Portland with his wife and daughter. He enjoys, hiking, biking, traveling and can often be spotted out and about enjoying the local music scene.
