TORRANCE, California (KNBC) - A California middle school teacher is recovering after flipping his truck during a chase with police.

Los Angeles Police say 51-year-old Kip Richard Arnold, who is wanted on suspicion of child abuse, refused to stop when officers tried to pull him over Tuesday.

He ended up crashing his truck over an embankment and into the porch of a building at the bottom of the hill near Torrance.

Officials say Arnold is in the hospital recovering from his injuries.

Arnold, a middle school gym teacher, was wanted on suspicion of child abuse allegedly involving a 16-year-old girl.
