BOSTON, Mass. (WHDH) - David Hasselhoff is speaking out about his role as "Mr. Popularity" after a number of people have gone out of their way to steal his iced coffee ads from Cumberland Farms stores.

On Wednesday night, Hasselhoff told NBC affiliate WHDH how he feels about being "ripped Hoff."

Fans are in pursuit of a Cumberland Farms ad featuring The Hoff, and he said that at first, he thought he did something wrong.

"The first thing I thought of was that I was in trouble and then I thought, 'Oh good they're not accusing me of stealing, they're accusing people of stealing me,'" Hasselhoff said.

The "Baywatch" actor says he saw the story about the thefts Tuesday night and is surprised people are stealing his cut outs.

"When I found out that they were stealing them I laughed really hard because I thought it was pretty funny," Hasselhoff said.

He may have misunderstood the headline though.
