MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (KARE) -- Back-to-school preparations at Minneapolis Public Schools have been expanded to deal with a forecast that includes excessive heat and humidity.
MPS students start the school year on Monday. The district has already started to cool buildings. They will provide extra water and are promoting safety tips for families and staff members.
In addition, the district has canceled all outdoor after-school athletics practices for Monday.
Temperatures over the next several days are expected to top 90 degrees with high dew points.
