What is RSS?
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is an XML-based format for content distribution and sharing content such as news headlines. How do Web sites use RSS?

Because they're automated, the feeds keep readers up-to-date without requiring them to subscribe to an e-mail newsletter (or expecting them to remember to visit throughout the day). Desktop software applications known as news readers or aggregators can collect, update and display RSS feeds from a wide variety of sources. A number of news readers are available for you to download, many at no cost. They vary slightly in how they look and act, so you may find yourself testing several before settling on one.
