BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- Each year the Maine High School Basketball Tournament draws people from all over the region to the Bangor Auditorium. Yet the event would not be possible without the many workers who help set the stage at Bass Park.
The event operations staff at the Bangor Auditorium spends about six hours putting up the basketball court. Staff also spends time testing equipment for the games in the days leading up to the event.
Buz Small is the chief of operations at Bass Park. He says while the days leading up to the tournament are long, the work pays off when the crowds arrive for tip off.
"It's kinda different when you're in here and you're setting up for an event then if you just come in as a spectator not knowing what goes into it," he said, "It's a big difference but once things are in place and things are going right...you know...you enjoy watching it."
In all there are more than 40 workers at Bass Park who have a hand each year in getting things ready for the tournament.
