PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Playing basketball at Presque Isle High School is a big deal, according to Head Coach Jeff Hudson. He would know - he was a player once upon a time, but came back to coach 13 years ago.
He says the tradition of winning is held in high accord at PIHS. In 2006, his Wildcat squad won the state title against Lake Region - the same opponent they will face again this year.
Many of the team's current players say being a part of the Wildcat tradition certainly has its perks. They get recognized all over town - almost like being a local celebrity.
"Everyone knows who you are," says freshman Hannah Graham.
"We've gotten a lot of attention.. and just everyone comes up to us and says oh congratulations," adds senior Kayla Richards, "it's just a great feeling really when you know your whole community supports your team."
