(NEWS CENTER)-- Thursday was a big day for some Mainers trying to make the United States Olympic team.
Telstar High School graduate Anna Pierce qualified for the semi-finals in the 1500 meter race. She posted the 11th fastest time which was only 1 1/2 seconds behind the fastest time. The Semi-Finals are Friday.
Bangors Riley Masters came up one spot short of qualifying in the mens 1500 meter race. Masters had the 25th fastest time.
Former Greely High School standout Becky O'Brien fouled on 2 of her 3 shot puts and finished 16th out of 23.
And another former Greely Ranger, Ben True, took part in the 5,000 meter finals and True ended up finishing 6th which was not good enough to get him a trip to London.
Meanwhile, Lauren Forgues from Boothbay will compete in the 20,000 meter race walk on Sunday and swimmer Jenni Roberts from Sanford failed to advance to the semi-finals as she competed in the 200 meter butterfly.
