NEWS CENTER- On Monday night, Portland Pirates forward Brett MacLean was submitted to the intensive care unit at a Canadian hospital after collapsing on the ice during a pickup game. Now, at least he's conscious and speaking.

MacLean's agent said his condition has improved to the point where the player could be transferred from the ICU for testing, to determine what caused his cardiac emergency.

MacLean played 63 games with the Pirates last season, scoring 25 goals and adding 23 assists.
