Caner-Medley finds new team in Europe

NEWS CENTER-  When Deering alum Nik Caner-Medley first picked up a basketball, he couldn't have imagined just how far it would take him:  nt only professionally, but geographically.Now the former University of Maryland standout is on the move again.

The 6-8 swingman is headed to Israel after signing a 2 year deal to play with with European powers Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The team franchise nicknamed "Electra" has won five European Championships.

This past season, the "Can Man" was voted to the All-Euroleague 1st team when he averaged more than 13 points and 6 rebounds a game for Valencia of Spain.

Caner Medley's pro career began in Germany back in 2007, before trying his luck in the NBA D-League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce.  After that season, he migrated to Spain, where he'd play with four different teams over five seasons.
