BRUNSWICK - The Bowdoin College hockey teams both jumped two spots in the latest USCHO.com Division III polls released on Monday afternoon.
The Bowdoin men (11-0-1) stand fourth in the rankings while the Bowdoin women (8-1-1) moved to seventh. Bowdoin and Norwich are the only schools to have both their men's and women's teams appear in the top-seven of their respective Division III polls.
Following a pair of conference road wins at Hamilton and Amherst last weekend, the men's team is the lone remaining unbeaten team in Division III men's ice hockey. Bowdoin received one first-place vote in the poll and boasts its highest ranking in the USCHO.com poll since standing #3 on February 4, 2002.
After making its first appearance in the Division III Women's Poll since
2007 earlier this season, Bowdoin reached #7 for the first time since the November 21, 2005 rankings. The Polar Bears are on a roll, holding the third-longest unbeaten streak in Division III women's hockey by going without a loss in their last nine outings.
Both teams will return to the ice with non-conference games on Tuesday, January 8. The women's team will travel to play at Saint Anselm at 4:00 p.m. while the men's team will host the University of New England at 7:00 p.m.
