Bridgeview, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Fire acquired midfielder Dilly
Duka and the right of first refusal to United States international Robbie
Rogers from the Columbus Crew on Monday in exchange for striker Dominic Oduro.
Duka was the eighth overall selection in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the Crew
and he has scored two goals in 45 matches for Columbus during his MLS career.
Rogers was a key member of the Crew from 2007-11, and he was integral in
leading the club to the 2008 MLS Cup while also winning the Supporters' Shield
in the same season.
He is currently a free agent after spending time with English Championship
side Leeds United as well as a loan spell with League One outfit Stevenage.
"We're pleased to have Dilly join our club," said Fire president of soccer
operations Javier Leon. "He's a young player with potential and will provide
us with depth on the wing. Additionally, to hold the rights to Robbie is great
for the club. He's an experienced player that would be a solid addition to our
squad, should the opportunity arise."
Oduro leaves Chicago having scored 18 goals in 66 games for the club over the
past two seasons.
