Portland, OR (Sports Network) - The Portland Timbers secured the services of
two players on Wednesday in separate trades as Ben Zemanski joins the club
from Chivas USA, while the right of first refusal to midfielder Michael
Nanchoff was acquired from Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Zemanski joins Portland in exchange for allocation money and the right of
first refusal to defender Jonathan Bornstein, while Portland sent a second
round pick in the 2015 MLS Supplemental Draft to the Whitecaps to secure the
rights to Nanchoff.
The 24-year-old Zemanski is a veteran of three MLS seasons, having featured in
72 matches for the Goats from 2010-12, scoring two goals and adding seven
assists.
Nanchoff, 24, has been training with the Timbers since Jan. 21 and has played
in all four of Portland's preseason contests.
