Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Chivas USA has been busy lately as the club
traded defender James Riley to D.C. United, while also signing defenders Steve
Purdy and Carlos Borja.
Riley leaves the Goats for United in exchange for a second-round pick in the
2015 MLS Supplemental Draft.
The 30-year-old is a veteran of eight MLS seasons and he made 32 starts for
Chivas last season.
Purdy, 28, spent the last two campaigns with the Portland Timbers, while the
25-year-old Borja moves to Chivas after spending last term with USL side Los
Angeles Blues.
The club also declined to pick up the contract options of Paolo Cardozo, Ryan
Smith and John Valencia, while waiving Cesar Romero.
