Surprise, AZ (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers agreed to one-year contracts
with 11 players on Monday, including pitcher Alexi Ogando and first baseman
Mitch Moreland.
Ogando posted a 2-0 record with a 3.27 earned run average and three saves over
58 games (one start) for the Rangers in 2012. The 6-foot-4 right-hander has
compiled a 19-9 record with a 3.12 ERA in 133 games, including 30 starts, over
three seasons in Texas.
Moreland appeared in 114 games with the Rangers last season and batted .275
with 15 home runs and 50 RBI. Over three seasons in Texas, Moreland has hit
.264 with 40 homers and 126 RBI in 295 games.
Uber prospect Jurickson Profar also agreed to a one-year deal on Monday. The
19-year-old middle infielder made his MLB debut with the Rangers in 2012 and
hit .176 with one homer and two RBI in nine games.
Also agreeing to one-year deals on Monday were pitchers Wilmer Font, Roman
Mendez, Joe Ortiz, Martin Perez, Tanner Scheppers, Matt West and Coty Woods
and infielder Leury Garcia.
