Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Steve Pearce went 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead
the Baltimore Orioles past the New York Yankees, 10-7, on Wednesday in
Grapefruit League action.
Pearce had an RBI double in a five-run Baltimore first inning and the O's also
scored two runs in the second to jump out to a 7-4 edge early on.
Todd Redmond picked up the victory, striking out three and allowing two hits
over two innings pitched. Luis Exposito drive in two runs in the victory.
The Yankees were paced by outfielder Brent Gardner, who hit a base-clearing
triple in the second inning, driving in three runs, but New York went
scoreless until plating three runs in the ninth inning.
Yankees' starter Nik Turley, who made his first career Grapefruit League
start, struggled and allowed five runs -- four earned -- while recording just
one out to take the loss.
