Acapulco, MX (Sports Network) - Spaniards Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer were
semifinal winners Friday and will meet for the title at the $1.213 million
The second-seeded Nadal posted a 7-5, 6-4 victory over countryman and former
champion Nicolas Almagro on the red clay at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess.
The former world No. 1 Nadal captured the Mexican Open in 2005 and titled in
Sao Paulo two weeks ago.
Ferrer, the top seed and three-time defending champion, grinded out a 6-3, 6-7
(5-7), 6-1 win over Italian Fabio Fognini.
Nadal owns a 16-4 lifetime record against Ferrer.
The 2013 Acapulco winner will claim $291,800.
