Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Ricardo Nanita went 3-for-5 with two doubles and
two runs scored and Carlos Santana hit 2-for-4 and also scored two runs to
lead the Dominican Republic past the New York Yankees, 8-2, in a tuneup for
the World Baseball Classic.
Vidal Nuno picked up the victory, tossing four innings of hitless ball, while
striking out four batters. Jose Reyes went 2-for-5 with one run scored and
one RBI.
The Yankees managed just two hits, including Zoilo Almonte's two-run homer.
Starter Hiroki Kuroda pitched well for the Yankees and lasted three scoreless
innings, striking out four batters and giving up just two hits.
