ALBANY, N.Y. - The University of Maine men's basketball team fell in the America East Quarterfinals by the score of 50-49 on Saturday night at SEFCU Arena. Maine finishes its season 11-19 while Albany goes to 22-10. Maine was led by Justin Edwards (Whitby, Ontario) who had 18 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Maine held a 15-14 lead midway through the first half before going on a 15-to-3 run courtesy of five points from Edwards to take a 30-17 lead with 3:47 left.
Albany went on a run to end the half, but the Black Bears took a 33-24 lead into intermission courtesy of 10 points from Edwards and nine points from Pollard
Four minutes into the second half Maine got it stretched the lead to 39-28, but Albany slowly chipped away and got within 44-42 with 4:25 left.
The teams exchanged possessions and the Great Danes would eventually tie it on a pair of free throws with 2:34 remaining, and took a two-point lead with 2:27 left on another set of free throws.
Pollard responded with two free throws 10 seconds later, and after the Black Bears got a stop, Edwards tipped in his own shot to give Maine the lead with 1:27 left.
Albany called timeout and was able to knot the game again. On the ensuing possession, Mike Allison (Lynden, Ontario) got fouled and made one-of-two free throws.

Pollard finished with 13 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Maine shot 46.5 percent while holding Albany to 34 percent. Both teams shot 33.3 percent from long range. Maine was called for 22 fouls while Albany committed nine.
