Dunedin, FL (Sports Network) - The Toronto Blue Jays and pitcher J.A. Happ agreed to a two-year, $8.9 million contract on Wednesday.

The new deal supersedes the one-year contract Happ reached in January to avoid salary arbitration and includes a club option for 2015.

Happ, 30, went a combined 10-11 with a 4.79 earned run average in 28 games last season for Houston and Toronto.

The left-hander has posted a 1.90 ERA in seven appearances this spring training.

For his career, Happ has compiled a 35-35 record with a 4.19 ERA in 116 games (96 starts) with Philadelphia, Houston and Toronto.
