ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Maine baseball team lost to Hartford on Sunday at Mahaney Diamond, giving up 2 of the 3 games in the series. It's the 1st time the Black Bears have lost a series in their America East schedule this season.

The only run of the game was scored in the 8th inning, when Hartford's James Alfonso hit a solo home run to left field off of Maine pitcher Mike Connolly.

Connolly was impressive on the mound otherwise. He threw all 9 innings, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 5. He falls to 4-3 this season, but he has a team-best 1.66 ERA.

Maine is now 14-6 in conference play and 25-17 overall. The Black Bears will host UMaine-Presque Isle on Tuesday at 5pm.
