APPLETON, Wisc. (NEWS CENTER) - The Southern Maine baseball team rebounded from Saturday's loss in the College World Series by winning their first elimination game 7-2 over Webster (MO).

The Huskies more than doubled their offensive output from the previous two games combined.

Senior infielder John Carey (South Portland) led the USM bats with three hits, two RBI, and his second home run of the season.  Junior outfielder Forrest Chadwick (Gardiner) had four walks and scored two runs.

Senior pitcher Ryan Yates (Oxford Hills) got the start for the Huskies.  His line: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R (1 ER), 2 BB, and 2 K's.  Sophomore Andrew Richards (South Portland) pitched three scoreless innings for the save.

USM is one of just four teams remaining in the tournament.  They'll play Wisconsin Stevens-Point on Monday at 1 pm.
