KINGSTON, R.I. (NEWS CENTER) - The University of Maine baseball teams sweep of an America East regular season and postseason title came up one game short as they fell to Binghamton in the league championship game 4-0.

The Black Bears loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn't manufacture a run.

UMaine was limited to six hits for the game and couldn't get more than three batters at the plate for five of the nine innings.

Maine only had two runners reach second base before the ninth inning.

Staff ace Mike Connolly gave up three runs in six innings on one day of rest.

Maine (37-22) must now wait and see if they receive one of the 34 at-large selections for the NCAA tournament field of 64.  The regional brackets will be announced Monday at noon.
