ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Portsmouth native Michael Fransoso and fellow Black Bear Mike Connolly were each selected in the 27th round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
Fransoso, a senior infielder, was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates 809th overall. The America East player of the year was also a third-team All-American after batting .352 with 49 RBI, 45 runs, and four stolen bases.
Connolly, a junior pitcher and catcher, was take 13 picks later at 822 overall by San Francisco. He earned first-team all-league honors as a catcher and second-team America East status as a pitcher.
