BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Saturday was an exciting night in Bangor - as baseball players and fans from all over the world were at Mansfield Stadium for the opening ceremonies of the Senior League World Series.
Teams representing countries as far away as Panama and the Philippines marched onto the field. They'll be in Bangor all week long. The games start on Sunday at noon with the host Maine District Three team playing the Canadian team from Nova Scotia.
The Maine team is from Bangor this year. The last time a team from Bangor was in the World Series, they lost to Aruba in the championship game - something the current team has in the back of their minds. But for most of them, this experience is a childhood dream come true.
