Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Panthers announced Friday that
running back Kenjon Barner, safety Quintin Mikell and cornerback D.J. Moore
will miss Sunday's contest against the New York Giants.
Barner, who rushed for 1,767 yards and 21 touchdowns with Oregon last season
and was a sixth-round pick of Carolina in this year's draft, once
again did not practice all week and has yet to play thanks to a sprained ankle
suffered in the preseason.
Mikell also did not set foot on the practice field thanks to an ankle injury,
and neither did Moore thanks to a knee issue.
Defensive tackle Dwan Edwards, who is battling through a thigh issue, has been
listed as questionable despite not having practiced at all this week. Should
he not be able to go, Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said Colin Cole will
start in Edwards' place, but rookie Kawann Short would see some snaps.
Carolina also proclaimed cornerback James Dockery (thumb/shoulder) and Josh
Thomas (concussion) as questionable, though team medical staff has cleared
Thomas for contact.
Five players, including linebacker Jon Beason -- who took full reps on
Wednesday and Friday after sitting out Thursday -- were deemed probable.
