BLUE HILL, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Sometimes getting active can be difficult because of physical limitations, finances or location. But the game of petanque provides a solution to many of those problems. All you need is a few friends, some boules (petanque balls) and you are well on your way to playing!
The game is approachable to all levels of athletes. Cynthia Stroud started twelve years ago as a way to have fun, and now she is representing the state of Maine in the World Petanque Championship this weekend in France.
"I'll be shooting, probably back up shooting," said Stroud. "We're very excited that the US has a very good shot at doing well."
For those interested in playing, a petanque clinic is being taught by world renowned player Marco Foyot at the Boatyard Grill in Blue Hill on Saturday, Ocotber 5th from 9:30-11 or 1-2:30, and there will also be a Panache, or pick-up game at the same location Sunday, October 6.
