CANTON, New York (NEWS CENTER) - UMaine hockey's opening weekend under Red Gendron didn't go as well as hoped.

After dropping a 2-1 game on Friday, the Black Bears were on the bad end of a sweep by a 5-2 final on Saturday.

Scarborough's Jake Rutt assisted the game's opening goal while Lewiston's Mark Anthoine added a goal in the 3rd.

That levelled the game at 2-2, only for the Saints to score twice in  a minute with under five minutes left in regulation.

Maine's home opener at the Alfond is next Saturday against Bentley.
