Gendron gets first win as UMaine hockey coach

ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The third time was the charm for the UMaine hockey team.  After being swept in their season-opening series at St. Lawrence, the Black Bears won their first game in the Red Gendron era 2-1 over Bentley. 

Connor Leen set up Stu Higgins for both goals, one scored in the first, the other in the second. 

Martin Oullette made 24 saves in the vicory. 

Maine begins their America East schedule next Friday when they host UMASS-Amherst for a pair of games at Alfond Ice Arena.
