Lincolnville native delivers at UFC Fight Night

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Lincolnville native Tim Boetsch says 'The Barbarian' is back.

Boetsch knew coming into his fight with Hawaiin Brad Tavares that he needed to win in order to keep his career going.

He spent the past month training with former UFC fighter Marcus Davis, and that training showed in the cage.

Boetsch was able to battle back against Tavares, landing a couple shots to the head that resulted in a TKO at 3:18 of round two.

"Even when I was getting hit I knew that if I caught him with my left I'd be able to finish him. I don't like to get beaten up but I think that standing and trading was the best way to get the win and put on a great show for the fans. I felt that home crowd energy every time I connected with a hard shot tonight. When I was going in for the finish I felt the energy start to rise faster and faster until the ref stopped it and the arena just exploded. It was an amazing feeling, without a doubt the best of my career. This is a whole new beginning and it all started at home here in Maine," said Boetsch.

The Barbarian says he will now wait for the call from UFC to see "who is next in line."
