Sea Dog bats go cold in loss to Reading

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The Portland Sea Dogs scored a run in the first and ninth inning, but the lack of offense the rest of the night proved costly in a 3-2 loss to Reading.

The Fightin' Phils were shutout for five innings, but three successive frames from the sixth to the eighth would be enough.

Mookie Betts went 2-for-3 with a run and walk extending his on-base streak to 57 straight games. sixth, seventh, and eighth

Portland's runs came courtesy of a Deven Marrero's RBI single, which drove in Betts in the first, and Henry Ramos' RBI single in the ninth.

Miguel Pena pitched 5 scoreless innings allowing four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts for the no-decision.

Robby Scott (2-1) took the loss surrendering all three runs on three hits and a walk.

Portland (15-8) concludes their four-game series with Reading on Thursday at 11 a.m.
