Sea Dogs topple Trenton, snap three-game skid

TRENTON, N.J. (NEWS CENTER) - Sea Dogs ace Henry Owens kept his scoreless streak to start the season going as he helped Portland break out of a three-game losing streak with a 9-2 win over Trenton.

Owens pitched 6.2 innings of shutout ball allowing six hits and striking out nine batters. The left-hander started the season with a 6-inning, rain-shortened no-hitter at Reading.

Nine of the ten Portland batters recorded at least one hit.

Leadoff hitter Mookie Betts recorded a base hit for the sixth consecutive game to start the season. He finished 2-for-5 with two runs and a walk.

Portland (3-3) will hold their home opener on Thursday when they host New Britain. First pitch is scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
