7 Ex-UMaine Players In NFL

ORONO (AP) -- Seven former University of Maine football players will be on NFL team rosters for the 2009 season's kickoff this weekend.

The list includes defensive lineman Mike DeVito and tight end Matthew Mulligan, both on the New York Jets; linebacker Jovan Belcher of the Kansas City Chiefs; running back Montell Owens of the Jacksonville Jaguars; linebacker Stephen Cooper of the San Diego Chargers; defensive back Brandon McGowan of the New England Patriots, and linebacker Lofa Tatupu of the Seattle Seahawks.

McGowan's spent the past four seasons with the Chicago Bears. He signed with New England during the offseason and made the team coming out of training camp. McGowan's overcome several injuries to make a Patriots team.
