PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER) -- NEWS CENTER has learned that Kevin Dineen will stay on as the coach of the Portland Pirates.

Dineen coached the Pirates for the past several years when the team was affiliated with the Anaheim Ducks. But when the Ducks moved their minor league operations to Iowa at the end of this past season, it was unclear who would wind up coaching this year's team.

NEWS CENTER has learned, however, that the Pirates' new parent team, the Buffalo Sabres, has offered the position to Dineen, and he's accepted. He will be formally introduced at a news conference in Portland tomorrow.
