BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- If you're one of the many people out there who grow your own vegetables and don't know what to do with them, St. Joe's Healthcare has a great solution.

Stop by the Hospital in Bangor. Outside the entrance you'll find a table with baskets of fresh veggies.

It's called the St. Joesph Healthcare's Vegetable Exchange Stand.

Drop off whatever vegetables you have in abundance, and then people who don't have access to fresh veggies will make sure the fruits of your labor don't go to waste.

"We know to be healthy you have to have access to fresh fruits and vegetables and this is one of those ways we do that. we have a lot of people in our community that financially just can't afford it. we also have people that live in apartment buidlings and can't grow it themselves," explained Bethany McKnight, a spokesperson for the hospital.

People who grow their own vegetables can use the program to swap out vegetables.

So if you've got an abundance of tomatoes, you can drop them off and pick up whatever else you can find in the basket.
