(NEWS CENTER) -- Doctors in Maine are reporting a high number of tick-borne diseases this year, with Lyme Disease being the most common.
Thousands of Mainers live with the disease every day; some have the disease don't even realize it. New legislation caused change in the Maine CDC's language on their website this year to clarify the difficulty of diagnosis and that it may mean long-term treatment. One of the other changes is more details about the false negatives a Lyme test often gives.
The third annual Mt. Valley Lyme Conference in Bethel will discuss testing, tick management and prevention on both a local and national level. The conference is Saturday, September 6 at 8 a.m. at Crescent Park School and a $5 donation is accepted.
