CUMBERLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -The Olympic Trials are coming up in Eugene, Oregon the last week in June.Several Maine athletes will be attempting to make the Olympic Team. One of them is Becki O'Brien of Cumberland and the University of Buffalo who puts the shot and hurls the discus.

After trying out team sports, Becki found she loved track and field: specifically the shot put and the discus.

Her father is the team's coach, and since 2005 the Greely Rangers have won 22 state championships in shot put and discus.

Becki is training at the University of Buffalo where she has set school and Mid-America Conference records.

Becki has improved by ten positions this year. She is currently ranked 8th in the nation in shot put and discus as she heads to the Olympic Trials.
